I breathe new life into old books by creating value and employment
Nicolas Fesquet is the director general and founder of Livre Vert, a Bordeaux-based business created in 2013 which collects books, comics, children's books, CDs, DVDs, vinyls and board games directly from your doorstep, for free. Then they sort them, give them away, sell them or recycle them to give them a second life. The economic activity generated by this has created employment for long-time job-seekers. Thanks to the Livre Vert, 150,000 books are for sale online, and more than 20 tonnes of old books have been saved from going into landfill… A fantastic example of sustainable development which puts books at the heart of a circular and social economy.
