Energiestro is a French company which was founded in 2001 by Anne and André Gennesseaux, who developed the flywheel energy storage technology. It consists of a prestressed concrete wheel which can store energy at a much lower cost than batteries. Photovoltaic solar energy, which is the cheapest generator of renewable energy, requires a lot of storage. Thanks to an unlimited renewable life-span, the VOSS (flywheel energy storage), aims to improve the self-sufficiency of buildings with solar panels, the storage and evening-out of intermittent renewable energy flows, the supply of energy to remote sites and rural developing regions… Which makes it a perfect choice of storage for big solar plants in desert zones.
